EPIPHANY

My son has recently found a new cartoon on PBS that he absolutely loves.  This show is not only very educational but it is also very imaginative.  WordWorld® is a place where everything and everyone in it is literally made up of the letters in its name – Duck, Frog, Sheep, Bug & Pig as well as their Nest, Boat, Barn, etc.  The whole basis of the show is to show kids how to put the letters together to “build a word”.  Whenever they have a problem to solve, you can rest assured the answer will be found in the creation of a new word.

Jump to a few days ago when we were all buckled in the car, driving down the road.  The kids are in the backseat, Micah & I are in the front.  My son (who is nearly 5 years old) drops whatever it was he was looking at and proceeds to grunt and reach towards it like his 14 month old sister would.  Trying to teach him to act his age, I remind him that he’s a big boy and if he needs help then he should ask for it.  He immediately asks for the retrieval of his dropped possession.  To prove the point, I immediately reach around and get it for him.  So, I got to thinking…

“Ye have not because ye ask not.”

When we see something in life that needs to change - whether it’s a problem, a need, a crisis, an attitude, whatever – do we shift into a mode of immaturity and panic, grunt, cry or fight the air?  Or, understanding the power of our words in tandem with the name of Jesus, do we frame our world with the words of our mouth?  I’ve heard it said more than once, “If you don’t like the world you’re living in, frame a new one with the words of your mouth.”  Just like those elementary characters in my son’s new favorite show, we can literally set the atmosphere by speaking out the answer, decreeing the issue on earth be conformed to the will of the Father as it is in heaven!  Such a simple solution!  What a real revolution will be experienced when the God’s children stop begging, grunting & pointing and arise as the sons of God with words in their mouth that bring the life of God to all of creation!
